DESCRIPTION:

Experiential activities have the power to deepen the supervisory relationship, but their greatest impact occurs when they are intentionally processed into meaningful clinical application. This workshop provides play therapy supervisors with a practical framework for selecting, facilitating, and processing experiential supervision activities that promote self-awareness, reflective practice, clinical decision-making, and supervisee development.
Participants will actively engage in experiential supervision activities designed to strengthen the supervisory alliance while learning how to translate each experience into play-based prompts, meaningful clinical questions, case conceptualization, and therapeutic interventions for children. A developmental and systemic lens is integrated throughout the workshop to support intentional supervisory decisions related to directiveness, supervisee growth, and the broader relational and cultural context influencing both supervisees and clients.

Participants will also learn how to adapt supervision activities for use with clients by developing play-based prompts, exploring the client’s perspective, and broadening experiential activities into meaningful therapeutic interventions. Rather than viewing experiential activities as ends in themselves, participants will learn how to intentionally select, facilitate, and process activities so they become meaningful vehicles for supervision, clinical reasoning, and supervisee development.
Participants will leave with ready-to-use supervision activities, ethical documentation, evaluation tools, and a structured process for transforming experiential activities into intentional play therapy supervision and clinical application.
