Maria Arias

LPC, Certified Synergetic Play Therapist & Supervisor

Maria Arias is a licensed professional counselor with more than 30 years of experience working with children, families, and educators. Her clinical work grew out of her time in the classroom, where early exposure to social and emotional learning shaped her interest in how children develop and respond to stress. She is a certified Synergetic Play Therapy therapist and supervisor, and her work centers on helping young children and their parents better understand behavior through a relational lens.

Maria has worked in both public and private education as a teacher, school counselor, and consultant, which continues to inform the way she trains other professionals. She is known for translating theory into language that feels clear and usable, especially when working with clinicians who want to more effectively involve parents in the therapeutic process. Her trainings emphasize practical application of relational concepts and encourage therapists to think more intentionally about how they engage families from the first point of contact.

She currently provides play therapy and parent coaching while expanding her work in professional training. Her focus is on helping clinicians build confidence in working with parents so that the work done in the playroom extends more fully into the child’s everyday environment.
