Pre-Requisites

This training is open to all clinicians, including those with no prior EMDR training. The theory and skills taught in this course are applicable for all clinicians. Since Rhonda is an EMDR Approved Consultant and trainer in EMDR therapy, there will be discussion of how to integrate the information into the EMDR Therapy Standard Protocol.  Only participants who have completed EMDRA-Approved Basic EMDR Training will receive EMDRIA credit. 

 

Training Description

This play therapy training is offered Live In-Person for contact hours and Virtual via Zoom Platform for non-contact hours.

 

For children who have experienced complex trauma, play therapy provides children with an opportunity for a safe space and a meaningful attuned relationship. Incorporating research from Trust Based Relational Intervention, EMDR, and Somatic Experiencing™, the therapist can give the child a voice through directive play therapy techniques focused on facilitating communication, self-regulation, stress management, and social competence, allowing the Window of Tolerance to be widened to a new world of possibilities.

 

Learning Objectives

 

1. Identify causes and symptoms of trauma

2. Explain the impact of complex trauma on memory in play therapy

3. Apply two play therapy interventions to use with trauma responses in children

VIRTUAL TRAINING INFORMATION 

 

  • If you register for the Virtual Classroom training, make sure you have a good WIFI connection. 
  • Your computer will need a camera for you to be visible throughout the entire training to receive the certificate. 
  • We will be using Zoom for the training, and we will send you a link at least 24 hours before the start of the training.
  • You will need to download the Zoom program to be able to use the link. 
  • Please note that during the training there will be one 15-minute break.

She is the founder and owner of the Center for Counseling and Family Relationships (CCFAM) , a large, thriving group practice that was established in 2007 and specializes in family systems and trauma-informed approaches. Dr. Johnson is also the founder and owner of CCFAM Training, established in 2012, offering supervision and ethics courses. She is also the owner of Play Therapy Training Resources, established in 2021. Through those companies, she provides continuing education, supervision, and consultations.

Per APT guidelines, all Live/Virtual trainings are limited to 50 total participants. The number of participants both in-person and virtual combined cannot exceed this amount.
